Editions number 25 or 50 unless stated otherwise. All artworks are printed with archival pigments on museum grade, cotton rag, paper at 310gsm weight. Most work is printed at around 80cm x 60cm. The shorter side (or width) will vary slightly depending on the individual artwork. A 3cm border sits within this size.
Every artwork has a certificate of authenticity, is numbered and signed and comes packed in a sturdy, protective cylinder via Express post. Delivery within Australia is typically around 10 days from the time of order. International orders may take a little longer.
The Art of the Story
A working lifetime as author, feature-writer, photographer and documentary-maker has a way of shaping a very particular view of the world. For Peter Hyatt it was the catalyst for his work as an artist. His poetic, detailed eye produces evocative works of our time and place.
Universal themes of change, identity and longing recur with image-making as stories built on decades of practice in narrative and image.
Hyatt has featured in numerous exhibitions and shows, including the Melbourne Gallery, 45 Downstairs with ‘The Last Days of Summer’. His work is held in the National Portrait Gallery and featured in Dr.Paul McGillick’s book ‘Slow Reveal - The Nude in the Australian Landscape’ (Peribo Press), London. October 2024).
He is a three times winner for architectural journalism, author of eight books including ‘Masters of Light’ and ‘Great Glass Buildings’, numerous documentaries on leading designers and architects including Lord Norman Foster, Richard Rogers and Glenn Murcutt. He also produced ‘Art House - Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland’ (Thames and Hudson), to coincide with the gallery’s opening.
This latest body of artwork reflects a lifetime of reading, writing, exploration and story-telling.

Art is a beautiful sign language. It is the dance with the viewer in a tango of emotion and intellect. Art travels. It take us places. It can change our lives. I love that. It can spring from its frame, or physical installation and, with the artist’s help, take the viewer on a joyous, unexpected journey.
I reflect upon the art that has transported me through dialogue rather than a monologue. This engagement between artwork and viewer produces a unique narrative of experience, invention and ideas.
So, this dance with art starts on blank paper, canvas, or computer screen and builds from there, usually with few prompts other than my imagination. There are recurring themes using visual rhythms of pattern and light, mystery and ambiguity. In these moments of mainly figurative art and environment, I seek to create intimacy and expansiveness.
If I’m lucky, I create a piece that taps into a feeling, or experience as a motif, or musical note, that heightens our shared sense of what it is to feel human - to feel alive.
